This is Promising…

Filed under: General — Bethie @ 9:42 pm

This will probably not be of any interest to those outside of Western New York…but this makes me very happy. I do not know exactly what happened the night Brad Horton was shot, but I do know that it is worth investigating. And I’m glad that the cops aren’t just getting away with something because they’re cops…which seems to be happening a lot these days in my small town that has been turned on its head in recent days because of the search for Bucky Phillips.

I vaguely remember Brad from elementary school. He wasn’t in my grade, but it was a small school, so I remember his name and face. I vaguely remember his wife too.

As I said before…I don’t know quite what happened that night, but I’m glad to see that there’s a real search for answers. I’ve been very disappointed in our legal system lately, and it’s good to see someone in our legal system (the D.A.) acting in such a responsible manner.

Bucky Phillips

Bucky has a My Space Account!
HaHa!

Look, I’m not really on Bucky’s side in this matter, but after seeing what a farce the state troopers have made out of this whole issue, I’m all for the Bucky jokes. Bucky is no hero, but in this case, it seems the state police are the true villians.

For those not from the Western New York Area, you can see the story here.

UPDATE: I know a lot of people are coming to this page from Google–this page is old, its from July go here for the latest–or check out some of my other posts about Bucky:

Cost of Government Day Tomorrow

Filed under: General — Bethie @ 12:28 pm

Remember all the way back to New Year’s Day? Well, every single day since then, you and I have been working to pay our federal, state and regulatory burdens, according to Americans for Tax Reform (ATR). Finally, tomorrow, we’ll actually be making money for ourselves. According to ATR, “this year’s COGD falls on July 12, an increase of one and a half days compared to 2005. Since 2000, the total cost of government has increased 6.5 percent.”

This is really sad. What will happen if the cost of government continues to increase like this? I’m sure there will be more to come tomorrow.

No Big Surprise Here…

When I started taking this test I had this sudden fear that it might tell me I’m most like Jimmy Carter or something. But, apparently it’s a pretty good test, because it matched me right up with the great Ronald Reagan. Awesome!

You Are Most Like Ronald Reagan

People tend to think you’re a god - or that you almost ruined the country.
But even if people do disagree with you, they still fall victim to your charms!
What Modern US President Are You Most Like?

Very nice–”even if people do disagree with you, they still fall victim to your charms!”–I had no idea.

Surgery 2 Weeks From Today…

Filed under: General — Bethie @ 10:26 pm

Well, if anyone is still reading this (I know…it’s been a while). Two weeks from today I will be undergoing Chiari decompression surgery. Chiari is a malformation of the brain in which the cerebellar tonsils of the brain go down into the spinal cord area (or as I like to say, my brain is just to damn big for my skull). Basically they need to go into my skull and create more room for my brain (I love telling people that–hehe).

While I really don’t display any symptoms of chiari (other than it showing up on an MRI), I need to have the surgery done because I’m going to need a second surgery on Trigeminal Neuralgia (a nerve disorder of the face), and they need to take care of the chiari first in case I have any brain swelling during the second surgery. The second surgery is microvascular decompression surgery.

If anyone out there has any words of wisdom, please let me know…while I’m excited about all the time I’ll get off of work, I must admit that I am a bit scared. Pray for me.
